Cambridge English highlights that Kids&Us students shine in the listening tests

Published 16/09/2019 by Kids&Us

During the 2018-2019 academic year, Kids&Us asked Cambridge Assessment English to validate whether the various courses taught in our schools were in conformance with the current levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

Nearly 1,000 of our students had their level of English unofficially tested in surprise tests through Cambridge Assessment English. The aim was to check the effectiveness of our courses and whether, as we felt, that after completing the Animal Planet 2 course our students could obtain the A2 CEFR certificate, as well as whether our Fairy Tales 2 students are sufficiently prepared to obtain the B1 and our Mysteries 2 students, the B2 level.

In its report, Cambridge English published that the Kids&Us method was producing very solid results. In the three courses that were analysed, between 57% and 65% of the students achieved, at least, the CEFR level expected for the course, and between 15% and 19% of the students even achieved a level higher than that stipulated for the course. Therefore, our courses are aimed at the right level because, according to Cambridge, “if more than 50% of the students achieve the target level of the course, then it is at the right level.”

The skills assessed in these tests were: use of English, reading and listening. In the latter, the tests showed that our students shine, something that even surprised the examining body: “Generally, students don’t do so well with Listening. Normally, it's a skill they find more difficult”, said the representatives from Cambridge. In this test, more than 80% of the students exceeded the target level.

You can view Cambridge's article on the study.

Congratulations to all our students for their great work! We are really proud of their progress and of laying a good foundation for them to master English in the future.
